Away (Regensburg)
Opponent: RC Regensburg 2000
Score: RC Regensburg 2000 29 - 19 Vorarlberg RUFC
Our third away match of the season took us on a four-hour ride to Regensburg, powered by good spirits and the always lively party bus. With a lean squad of just 16 players, we knew it wouldn’t be easy—but we were ready to fight.
Thanks to some top-tier maneuvering by our bus driver, we rolled into the venue focused and fired up. The match kicked off with Regensburg coming out strong, but our defense held solid early on. A confusing field with several painted lines nearly led to a try, but luck (and confusion) was on our side.
The first half was a tough grind—scrums, big tackles, and a lot of physical play. Regensburg eventually found their way through and scored twice, giving us a rocky start. But we struck back with a fantastic run from Antonio, who broke through multiple defenders to put us on the board. We headed into halftime at 12–5.
The second half, however, turned against us. With no substitutions and an injury to Henry, our energy dropped while Regensburg kept rotating fresh legs. They scored three quick tries, taking control of the game and stretching their lead to 29–5.
Still, the Ländle boys weren’t done. After a perfect pressure in their line-out, Oli came up fast and then Antonio lit up with a nice steal and try, bringing life back to the match. And then Tom, apparently forgetting he was wearing the number 8, pulled off a slick run more fitting for a fly-half and crossed the line for a beautiful try. Yannick stayed perfect with the boot, converting both and bringing us to a respectable 29–19 final score.
No bonus point this time, but a huge effort from all 16 who made the trip. Shoutout to Panu, first match and an incredible one, amazing tackles and support. A special thanks to the referee, RC Regensburg 2000 for the great match and post-match, and to our teammates for the dedication. We wait for the next match, 31st of May at 14:30 at home. Let’s give our crowd a victory! See you there!
