The final match of the season had arrived after a three-week break from rugby, and despite the pause, the Ländle team showed up with 21 committed players for one last battle on home turf. The weather was perfect, and our guests from RFC Augsburg were ready for a strong match.

The game began in explosive fashion. Within the first minute, some slick handling from the backs set up Roman for a powerful run and a try to light up the scoreboard: 5–0. For the next 20 minutes, both teams locked into a defensive grind, with penalties piling up and no change in the scoreline.

Eventually, Augsburg broke through to level the game at 5–5. Then came a tough stretch for Vorarlberg: two more tries from Augsburg, a yellow card for our prop Eugen, and another yellow for Marcos pushed us to halftime trailing 5–17.

The first half was slow-paced and stop-start, with frequent penalties interrupting the flow. But during the break, the message was clear: stay disciplined and leave everything on the field. And that’s exactly what the team did.

The comeback began with a perfect team play that finished with a try for Roman that was finally a penalty try. Moments later, Luke—finishing his season in style—scored his second try of the campaign. With successful conversions, the score was level at 17–17.

However, the tension wasn’t over. A yellow card for Antonio made things shaky again, and Augsburg took advantage to go ahead 17–24. But Vorarlberg wasn’t finished. After some patient phases, Wayne grabbed the ball and stormed over the line for his first try of the season—congrats, Wayne! Yannick calmly slotted the conversion to tie it up once more at 24–24.

The final ten minutes were fierce: tough tackles, solid scrums, and relentless effort from both teams kept the score locked until the final whistle. A draw was a fair end to an intense, emotional season finale. Both teams walk away with 3 points. Augsburg secured third place in the Regionalliga—congratulations to them! Vorarlberg RUFC currently sits in 6th, awaiting the result of TSV 1846 Nürnberg’s final match.
