Score: TSV 1846 Nürnberg 21 – 39 Vorarlberg RUFC
Seventeen players boarded the bus on a cold Saturday morning, ready to give everything for another win. After nearly four hours on the road, the team arrived in Nürnberg with confidence and determination. The last home victory had lifted spirits, and everyone knew how important it was to continue that momentum.
Warm-up looked sharp. The players were focused, calm, and mentally set to strike first. And what a start it was. From the kickoff, Vorarlberg showed solidity, structure, and a clear game plan: keep it simple, stay organized, and dominate physically. It didn’t take long before Max, making his comeback after injury (great to have him back!), powered through defenders near the line to open the score. 0–5 for the Ländle boys.
Morale skyrocketed. Tackles were strong, rucks clean, and the team kept pushing with precision. Antonio added the second try after well-executed phases and smart forward work. With good pods, clever lineouts, and disciplined play, spaces started opening, and one man knew exactly how to exploit them: Tom. Fully inspired, he delivered a stunning first-half hat-trick, stealing the show and giving Vorarlberg a commanding lead. Thanks to Antonio’s conversion, the scoreboard read 7–27 after 40 minutes.
During halftime, the message was simple: reset mentally, start as if the game was 0–0, and own the first ten minutes. But Nürnberg struck early and closed the gap to 14–27. That only woke us up again. Antonio delivered a brilliant assist and Tom finished yet another decisive run. Henry stepped up for the conversion, extending the score to 14–34.
The final phase of the match was raw intensity. Heavy hits, tired bodies, and a nearly fresh forward pack from the opposition made the last minutes a real battle. Nürnberg scored again to make it 21–34, but Vorarlberg refused to let the game slip. And fittingly, the man who opened the match also closed it: Max crossed the try line once more, sealing the 21–39 victory.
We wish Sebi and Marc a strong and quick recovery — hoping to see both fully fit for the second half of the season.
Great overall away performance. Nürnberg showed excellent fair play, and the referee had very few issues thanks to the good sportsmanship from both sides. Many thanks to our hosts for their hospitality, the delicious pizzas, and the post-match atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming you to our new clubhouse in Rote Erde next year. And of course, thanks to our supporters, sponsors, and our bus driver, every one of you helped make it a fantastic rugby Saturday capped off with a well-earned win.
