On 20 June 2026, Vorarlberg Rugby joined forces with Vaduz Rugby Club to compete as SG Vaduz / Vorarlberg at the Bayerische 7er-Meisterschaft Qualifikationsturnier in Regensburg. Despite temperatures reaching a scorching 35°C, the squad delivered an impressive performance to secure qualification for the Bayern 7s Finals.

The tournament got off to the perfect start with a dominant 32–0 victory over Kempten, setting the tone for the day. Confidence continued to grow in the second match as SG Vaduz / Vorarlberg defeated SG Fürstenfeldbruck / Freimann 38–14 with an exciting attacking display.

The third match proved to be the closest contest of the tournament. A hard-fought battle against SG Nürnberg / Nördlingen ended in a narrow 22–26 defeat. With the teams evenly matched, the difference ultimately came down to successful conversions, highlighting just how fine the margins can be in rugby sevens.

Needing a strong finish, the team responded brilliantly in their final match, edging SG Augsburg / Innsbruck 22–21 to secure third place overall and, most importantly, qualification for the finals.

Across four matches, SG Vaduz / Vorarlberg recorded three wins and one loss, scoring 114 points while conceding 61. Beyond the results, the tournament was a fantastic opportunity for players from both clubs to come together, enjoy their rugby, and continue developing their understanding of the sevens game. Reading matches more effectively and improving overall rugby IQ were valuable lessons taken from the day.

The team’s primary objective was simple: have fun. Mission accomplished. After a successful day on the pitch, the squad cooled off with a well-earned swim in the Danube before turning their attention to the Bayern 7s Finals.
