Following a successful qualification tournament, SG Vaduz / Vorarlberg travelled to Unterföhring (Munich) on 4 July 2026 to compete in the Bayerische 7er-Meisterschaft Finalturnier. Playing in warm, sunny conditions (28°C), the combined squad once again showed plenty of determination, finishing 5th out of 7 teams with an impressive three wins from four matches.

Drawn into a challenging Group A alongside hosts Unterföhring—who would go on to win the tournament—and Stusta, a 2. Bundesliga side, the team faced a tough start. In the opening match, SG Vaduz / Vorarlberg produced one of the upsets of the day, defeating the eventual champions 19–17 in a hard-fought contest.

The second group match saw the team take on Stusta, who capitalised on their opportunities to secure a 38–12 victory. With Unterföhring also defeating Stusta, the group standings came down to points difference, leaving SG Vaduz / Vorarlberg in third place despite their remarkable win over the eventual champions.

That result meant the team moved into the placement matches for 5th to 7th place, where they finished the tournament strongly. A convincing 38–12 win over SG Nürnberg / Nördlingen was followed by an emphatic 40–10 victory against SG Augsburg / Innsbruck, securing 5th place overall.

Across the tournament, SG Vaduz / Vorarlberg recorded three wins and one loss, demonstrating their attacking threat and resilience against strong opposition. Beyond the results, the tournament was another valuable opportunity for the players to continue building their understanding of the sevens game. Improved game management and rugby IQ were key takeaways, while the team’s main objective—enjoying the experience together—was once again achieved.

Reaching the finals, defeating the eventual tournament winners, and finishing with a 75% win rate made for a memorable end to the Bayern 7s campaign and provides plenty of confidence for future sevens competitions.
