RC Regensburg 2000 53 - 7 Vorarlberg RUFC
Städtische Sportanlage am Weinweg, Regensburg — 13 June 2026
Vorarlberg RUFC’s season came to a brutal close in Regensburg, going down 53-7 in searing heat that topped 30°C — testing conditions made even harder by the fact that Vorarlberg could only field 14 players.
Playing a man short from the kick-off against a well-stocked Regensburg side was always going to be a tall order, and the hosts made their numerical and territorial advantage count from early on, running in a string of tries to build an unassailable lead. With the heat sapping energy reserves further as the game wore on, Vorarlberg’s depleted squad had little left in the tank to keep pace
Amid a difficult afternoon, there were still moments of real pride. Max Berthold got Vorarlberg’s name on the scoresheet with a well-taken try, the visitors’ only score of the game. Tawsif Faisal made his debut for the club, a welcome bright spot on an otherwise tough day and a sign of the squad building for next season.
Discipline held up well on both sides despite the lopsided scoreline and taxing conditions, with no notable incidents.
The result had no bearing on the final league table, with Vorarlberg’s placing already secured. The defeat closes out the season, with Vorarlberg finishing 4th overall in the Bayern regional league — a solid campaign capped off by a tough final-day test against a strong Regensburg team.
